Vegetarian Quick and Easy Under 15 Minutes by Jonathan Vine Book Review (Tomoson)

Disclaimer: This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

I read Vegetarian Quick & Easy - Under 15 Minutes: (100 Simple Natural Foods Recipes) (Weight Maintenance & Low Fat Lifestyle) (Special Diet Cookbooks & Vegetarian Recipes Collection Book 2), in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The book was written by Jonathan Vine and Tali Carmi.

I wanted to review the book because my nephew is a picky vegetarian, with an allergy to gluten. He also does not consume foods with certain dyes and chemicals. He doesn't eat meat or wheat. He also loves dairy such as eggs and ice cream.  Cooking for him is hard but the family still tries to cook him healthy food. I prefer quick food, so I can get out the kitchen. Oatmeals, cheese roll-ups, beans and rice.

First, the book discusses the different type of vegetarians. For example, total vegetarians are vegans (such as my sister). My nephew is an example of an Lacto-ovo-vegetarian. He doesn't eat meat, but will consume some animal by products, such as cheese and eggs.

The book also discusses the benefits of being a vegetarian. Then we head to my favorite section, which discusses quick meals for busy moms. Some of the recipes, I loved included the:

  1. Avocado Scramble. Avocado and Eggs.
  2. Vanilla French Toast
  3. Cheesy Mushrooms
  4. Ricotta Cheese Fritters
  5. Greek Salad
  6. Potato Pancakes
The book also has quick, romantic meals, such as nutella french toast, caprese salad, nutella trifle,  or the spinach and strawberry balsamic salad. mmm mmm good.

I also loved the cheese-filled croissants, the caramel pears, and the warm peanut butter banana sandwich. Think grilled cheese, but without the cheese.

The book also has pictures scattered throughout.

The book is available on Kindle and paperback. The paperback is Prime Eligible. The kindle book is free for today. Go download it. Add it to your devices.

Persecuted by Robin Parrish Book Review (FlyBy Promotions)

I received Persecuted: I Will Not Be Silent in exchange for honest review from FlyBy Blog Promotions. This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

Official movie website: http://www.persecutedmovie.com

About the book: (from media kit)

The Question Is Not IF Attempts Will Be Made to Limit Religious Freedoms, But WhenJohn Luther, simply wants to share the Gospel and enjoy a quiet life with his family. He never asked to be at the center of a political controversy, but an ill wind has been blowing through the halls of Congress, and supporters of a new religious-equality bill see Luther's endorsement as critical. When Luther refuses to lend his support, he unknowingly sets in motion an explosive plan bent on destroying his reputation and undermining everything for which he stands. His once-normal life is turned upside down as he becomes a fugitive left with only one dangerous option--putting everything he holds most dear at risk while he fights to expose the truth. It is a mission that brings him face-to-face with the coming storm of persecution that could threaten the very fabric of our nation's freedoms.

My Review

The book starts out with a killer, Mr. Grey,  reminiscing about his past kills. Then, the book moves into John Luther holding an interview. Luther is the pastor of Truth Ministries. The reporter is trying to capture the perfect, yet controversial sound bite, while Luther is holding back his true feelings about a future legal matter: The Faith and Fairness Act "To publicly declare your religious beliefs in a way that permits equal time and respect to other systems of faith" (p. 15). The act will provide faith and equality for all faiths and religions. If the country unites the faiths, then peace will come.

Luther does not support The Faith and Fairness Act, which gives him a new set of enemies. Luther has a good size congregation and people feel his endorsement of the Act will generate new supporters. Luther wants to share the good news of God versus having involvement in politics.

The book is a good mix of fast-paced action plus the slower scenes, which provides the context and background.

The book is available in hardback, paperback and Kindle format. The book is also Prime-Eligible.

OrBlue Propresser Professional Garlic Press Review (Tomoson)

This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

I received the 70% OFF TODAY - Propresser Garlic Press Stainless Steel - Mince Garlic with the Best Garlic Press - Go Without Garlic Peeler or Garlic Chopper - Premium Quality Garlic Crusher - Garlic Mincer and Ginger Press, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. No other compensation was provided. The product was created by Orblue.

I love using garlic when cooking: powder or minced. I wanted to try a new method other than the back of a knife. The press did not require any assembly.  The ease of use depended on the size of the garlic. Smaller pieces were easier to press than the bigger cloves. The press was also easier to clean if you run it under water versus using your nails or a small knife.

VIDEO REVIEW

I provided a video of me using the garlic press. I added some garlic into a cheese sauce, I made.

Moms Meet: Good to Grow Product Review

I received Good 2 Grow in exchange for honest review from Moms Meet. I received two coupon booklets for 2 single serve juices and 2 refill packs.

I wanted to review the products for my youngest son. He learned how to drink of out a straw recently. I been buying him more products, which require a straw, so he can drink independently versus having me help him drink his water, milks, and juices.

I got the package in the mail and saw four coupons. Ok, I thought. I buy one character for my son and one for my great-niece. What she wants, he wants and vice versa. I got him, Kermit the Frog and I got her, Dora the Explorer. Two different characters so I can tell which cup was which.

I bought all apple just because that's what the store had. I would love to try other flavors in the future, such as fruit punch and strawberry kiwi. I went to H-E-B for the juices. I have a Kroger campaign coming up for another review company. I can see what flavors they carry too.

The refill packs lasted a few days. My youngest found the juices. Everytime, I turned around, he had his Kermit and another bottle of juice. Of course, when the refills run out, you can still use the cup for milk, water, or other juices until you get a refill pack.

The taste

The Juice tastes wonderful. Good 2 Grow does not add sugar or artificial colors and preservatives. The juices are also non-GMO. The company also makes an organic apple juice.

I found a Coupon  on the G2G website, which you get for subscribing to their newsletter.

Adovia Mineral Eye Gel Review (Tomoson)

This post contains Amazon Affiliate links.

I received Adovia Eye Cream - Powerful Eye Gel for Eye Puffiness, Dark Circles and Wrinkles by Adovia Mineral Skin Care - Reduce Appearance of Fine Lines & Wrinkles Around the Eyes - with Dead Sea Salt & Minerals, Vitamin C and Vitamin A Retinol in exchange for honest review from Tomoson.

The eye gel contains dead sea salt and minerals.

I have reviewed other Adovia Products before: The products include:

Dead Sea Mud Shampoo Review
Dead Sea Salt Conditioner Review
Dead Sea Mud Soap Review
Mineral Skin Care Purifying Mud Review
Dead Sea Salt Soap Review

I love Adovia's products. The products really help beautify the skin. The eye gel helps minimize dark circles and fine lines, in addition to reducing signs of aging under the eyes. I wanted to review the eye gel because I am always tired with dark circles because of school,  kids, and other crazy folks I live with.

You apply the gel with fingers around your eyes. Please use as little as possible. The gel has a strong, mint scent. It hurts when it gets in the eyes.

In the picture, the first pic is a picture of me with the product. In the next picture, it's how I looked this morning after spending hours cleaning and dealing with a bunch of kids (Kalen, niece, great-niece, and nephew). The last pic is my eyes after applying the eye cream.

I also provided a video of me using the product. At the end, you see I got a little in my eyes.

Shou Shu Martial Arts for Adults Review (Tomoson)

#ShengChi

I reviewed Shou Shu Martial Arts for Adults, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. I wanted to review the online program to get some peace and composure in my cluttered old mind. Between the kids, school, and annoying relatives, I hardly get a moment of peace.

Plenty of times, I have to wait until the kids go to sleep to work on school assignments, video reviews, and blogging tasks, so I can have a clear head.

The website offers a variety of video courses. I started with the principles first, such as:

  • Center Line. (my favorite).
  • Bone alignment and reinforcement.
  • Eyes, reactive mind, and intent.
I wanted to master the basics before I attempted the yellow belt course. The site offers free and paid courses. You also can test for belts in the classes (not free).

Dr Careys Baby Care First Year Baby Care Guide Review (Tomoson)

This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

I received Dr. Carey's Baby Care: First Year Baby Care Guide in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The book was written by Dr. Carey Chronis. I received the guide plus two swaddling blankets, I gave away to a new parent. The book comes in glossy format on every page with bright, colorful pictures.

I wanted to review the book because I wanted to know more about baby's milestones. My children met hardly none of the "normal" milestones. Not meeting the milestones, let me know something was wrong, so I could get treatment right away. For example, I suspected Kalen had Autism. I voiced my concerns to WIC and as soon as he turned one, he was enrolled in the early intervention program. Because of program completion, Kalen was able to start The Preschool for Children with Developmental Disabilities. He will be enrolled for the next two years, until it is time for pre-k.

I also suspected a heart condition and voiced my concerns to his doctor. I was right on both diagnoses.

Currently Kalen's mental age is around 12 months, but some of his functioning is around 24 months. Kalen is 3 years old. He has Autism, Global Development Delays, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Static Encephalopathy (heart condition).

Brad, on the other hand, has a mental age of 3 to 4 years old. Brad is 13 years old with Autism and ADHD.

My favorite part was the development by age section. The book provides milestones for motor skills, language, and social behavior for each month.

The book also discusses illnesses,  rashes, umbilical cord care, and bundling. The book also discusses poop. Such as the difference between bottled-fed babies poo versus breast-fed babies poop.

The book is a good read.

The book is sold on Amazon in Kindle and Paperback format.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Never Agitate the Monkeys or an Autistic Child

You know how when you go to zoo, the signs say don't feed the animals. Don't agitate the animals. Or face their wrath.

That's how I feel when it comes to Brad. Don't agitate him because I am left to clean up what mess someone else has caused. The family was all sitting downstairs watching Wife Swap. I went downstairs for a change of pace. Was editing footage for another post and needed to move away from the desk. My bed is filled with things I need to put away since I vacuumed the floor earlier.

Somehow, someway, my niece decided to chase Brad upstairs, which agitated him. No good for me. It was time for his medicine. He was throwing things. He jumped off his sofa part of his bed so hard, the TV cable cut off. He tried to throw my exercise ball. I had to hold him down and told my niece to get his medicine, especially the thorazine, which supposed to calm him down quickly (which it does not). She brought me three of the five medications. I sent her back for the other two. She could not find them. So, we had to switch positions. She held Brad while I went and got the Rispercrap and Clonidine.

Of course, the great-niece wants to get in the way. She got caught in one of Brad's kicks. She is ok. I got hit in the face with a block. Brad tried to bite him self.

I gave Brad his medication, while he is kicking and screaming. Still agitated. I told the niece to run him a bath. Grabbed his Dove Men's and the Lavender Soap. Got him in the tub. washed him down. He wanted out the tub. Dried him off. He put on his Depends. I pulled out his mattress. Gave him his blanket and the TV remote.

He is sleep now but all of this could have been avoided if the 16 year old left the 13 year old alone. The same person, who agitated him, had to help me calm him down. Brad's meltdowns feel like they take forever. Well that was my vent. Have a blessed day.

Charlie the Cavalier Begs for Attention Book Review and Puppet (Tomoson)

I read Charlie The Cavalier Begs for Attention: (Rhyming Bedtime Story/Picture Book for Beginner Readers and Early Learning, About Feeling Safe When Loved Ones Are Away, with Printable Puppet), in exchange for honest review from Tomoson.

I read Charlie the Cavalier in exchange for honest review. No other compensation was provided. I wanted to read the book for my children. The book was a short read, which is good for my toddler and teenager. The teenager has Autism and ADHD. The toddler has Autism, Global Development Delays, Sensory Processing, and a heart condition. I love books, which grab their attention quick and then the book ends quick. :-)

The book also came with a puppet, which I made with regular printer paper and then with card stock. I learned how to fold the puppet on my own but the book also comes with instructions on how to make the puppet. The kids and I loved the book. It's about a puppy named Charlie, who loves attention. He can say his alphabet and he can play peekaboo. Cute book.

No ESY this week for Brad (And I am not happy about it).

Brad is in extended school year (ESY) for the summer. Because he is special needs, Brad will attend until August 7th, 2014, then school starts back on the 26th or 27th. The family has a Carnival Cruise planned for a few days before school starts back. This should be interesting because I never cruised with children before, let alone sisters, and my nephew. I have done dinner cruises, casino cruises, and big cruises with Carnival and Royal Caribbean.

For the next cruise,  I am contemplating Royal Caribbean again since they won an award for Autism-friendliest. I am also contemplating Norwegian since they depart from Houston, in addition to being a Nick Cruise.

I had no idea he was approved for ESY until the bus driver called the night before with pick up and drop off information. I missed the last ARD/IEP meeting of the year because Kalen had a doctor appointment. Next time, I am checking the reschedule box. His final ARD/IEP arrived a few days before finding out he was approved.

The IEP said ESY was suggested but not approved. Don't get me wrong, I was happy to ship him off for 4 hours a day, 4 days per week, but I don't like surprises.

Brad was very happy to get on the bus. He has had no problems since. Especially with three new medications added to his regimen because of his behavior at his regular school. Brad is still having issues at home, but not at school (and I hope it stays that way). I have been getting good notes home from his teacher.

ESY started a week or two after school ended. Now they are getting a week-long break. which irritates me. I need my 4 hour break. I need a break from Kalen too. I was hoping his school would call as well with approval. Brad needs stability and there is nothing more stable than a special needs classroom. (at least I think lol).

I have no idea what to do with him at all. No Car. No Bus Line. I still have school work to complete. Kalen has a WIC appointment. He has had a lot of meltdowns since Thursday. He had a doctor's appoint the other week. The doctor added tegretol permanently. He had prescribed my favorite, carbemazepine after Brad's last blowout at school.

Brad was allegedly humping the tables and chairs. He also hit teachers, staff, and students. Dr. G also added Hydroxysomething to help Brad sleep since Clonidine doesn't always work. 5 medications and the boy still acts out. Part Autism. Part ADHD. Part Puberty. Part Teenager.  Yay me.

Ozeri Turtlemeter Bath toy and thermometer (Moderna Housewares)

Disclaimer: This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

I received the Turtlemeter, the Baby Bath Floating Turtle Toy and Bath Tub Thermometer, in exchange for honest review from Moderna Housewares. The turtlemeter was created by Ozeri. I wanted to review the product because when my youngest always had issues with the tub. He would scream, no matter the temperature. I bought a baby thermometer. Even though the temperature read the perfect temperature, he would still scream. I finally had to start bathing with him, which calms him down. But when he is bathing alone, he still runs from the water and soap, but he will hold a towel.

The turtlemeter is part toy and part thermometer. My two year old has carried the toy all over the house, but it also helps me determine the perfect temperature. Red means too hot. Blue means too cold. Green means perfect.

The product is sold on Amazon. The turtlemeter is also prime eligible.

Rumiano Cheese (Pending) Review (Tomoson)

I wanted to review Rumiano Cheese, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The company sent free coupons for redemption. I finally found the product today and this post will be updated within a few days. For the blog post, I am going to focus on the benefits and update once I have tried the cheese.

I thought of reviewing the cheese because my sister is a vegan and my nephew is a vegetarian. They love to shop at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. My sister is very health-conscious and also looks for foods without certain dyes, preservatives, chemicals, or additives. Trying to feed my nephew is tricky. He is a veggie, allergic to gluten, and reads the ingredients on labels. I can't eat this because it contains this dye or this, that or the other.

The Rumiano cheese would have been perfect for him and the rest of the family to try. My kids also love cheese.

Benefits of Rumiano Cheese:

One of the first benefits was the cheese is Non-GMO. A GMO is a "genetically modified organism". Products with GMOs can produce better quantity, but not necessarily quantity. According to Rumiano's website, GMO's can cause health problems, in addition to environmental damage.

According to Organic Consumers, foods with GMOS, has linkages to allergies, toxins, diseases, and nutritional issues. Next, since the food is modified, there are no guarantees how the food will react to your body. The foods also may contain pesticides and other chemicals. Not everything is good for you.

The Rumiano Cheese Co has produced the world's first Non-GMO Project verified cheese. The company also makes both natural and organic cheeses.

Types of Cheese

Organic Cheeses

  • Organic Colby
  • Organic Medium Cheddar
  • Organic Mild Cheddar
  • Organic Monterey Jack
  • Organic Mozzarella

  • Medium Cheddar
  • Mild Cheddar
  • Mozzarella
  • Muenster
  • Original Jack
  • Peppato
  • Sharp Cheddar
  • Smoked Dry Jack

The site also has recipes and interesting videos about how cheese is made. I loved the variety of the cheeses and can't wait to cook with them.
